WRITING
Writing is my first love.
As a kid, I wrote stories about things that interested me, like my pets and whatever my imagination could create. I honed my writing skills when I started writing articles for my high school publication, and quickly fell in love with telling people’s stories. Journalism allows me to be a fast expert on any topic I’m covering and connect with real people along the way. I firmly believe that writing is a skill that is important for everyone to master.

This story focuses on Alfred Brandt, a sixth-generation Missouri dairy farmer, who worries about his livelihood as bottling plants become underutilized.
Next Generation: Farmers innovate, adapt as industry changes
As part of a student-led team, I conceptualized, pitched, reported and produced a three-part series about the future of farming. Our last installment explored this question: As farmers are aging out, who will be the next generation to supply our food? This story focuses on a pair of egg-farming brothers and an aging couple producing beef cattle in Missouri.
